Personally, I moved enough in my life and therefore I'm glad this is a hypothetical question. Imagine, for someone reason, you had to move within three months. Where would you move to? Which continent would you favor or for those of us who want to stay in the US, in what state would you want to live. And most importantly why?
The seven continents as taught in China and most English-speaking countries are;
- North America
- South America
- Antarctica
- Africa
- Europe
- Asia
- Australia
Is there another model then? Yes, there is. The six-continent combined-Eurasia model is preferred by the geographic community, Russia the former states of the USSR, and Japan. The six-continent combined America-model is taught in Latin America, and most parts of Europe including Germany, Greece , Italy, Portugal and Spain. The names Australasia or Oceania are sometimes used in place of Australia. The atlas of Canada names Oceania, as does the model taught in Latin America and Iberia.
Ibero-America is a term used since the second half of the 19th century to refer collectively to the countries in the Americas which were formerly colonies of Spain or Portugal.
Okay, we have a lot to choose from. What would your criteria be? Are you looking for culture, infrastructure, best social system, demographic issues, nature, cities, history and so much more we normally would take in consideration when we have to move. I will skip the " had to move because offer was made I couldn't refuse" part, the job market. But if you 're looking for different or different work ethics feel free to do so.
Is there a continent that you favor or is it immediately a country that comes to mind? If you rather stay in the US, which state sounds appealing to you? Forty nine choices left. A lot of making your choice will be based on your personal situation. Age, married, single, widowed, divorced, children or no children. That of course is a significant factor in your choice making.
I know and remind you that this is a hypothetical question but isn't it nice to be daydreaming some times? Maybe you moved already to your favorite place on earth? I'm curious what your choices will be.
Thanks in advance for sharing.
- Henry.
