The second part of the header is a little bit sarcastic but oh so true when I think about what we really try to do if it comes to our contribution to this world, planet if you like. Isn't it wonderful how we can rant or vent about everything that seems unfair to us in the society we are a part of? Sure, we have to vent at times, get it off out chests because it's not healthy to keep it inside. It raises your stress-level and with that probably also your blood pressure. But we're all ( yes, you are the exception....) masters when it comes to complaining. I'm pretty good at it if I feel like it. No skills required, just empty your steaming and boiling pipe which is loaded with frustrations.
And there is a lot we can complain about, too much actually. Just a quick scan here - - - - Work, salary, economy, gas prices, family, friends, health, neighbors, politics, driving and the list goes on and on. Sure, there are several segments when it comes to complaining, complainers. As there is the chronic complainer, the selective complainer, the I know it better complainer, the destructive complainer, the reasonable complainer and the non-complainers. The last mentioned are done complaining because they've seen the light and have come to the conclusion that only complaining doesn't help. It's not constructive enough on its own, no added significant value comes with it.
As said before, I complain at times. Can be anything, no specific subject. But I'm always aware of the fact that if I complain about something there must also be something I can do about it. Or at least give it an effort. I think the weather might be considered as an exception to the rule.
But it's time for a change of mentality. We have to make sure that we realize that only complaining, how human that may be doesn't change a thing. Sure, you got it off your chest and that makes you feel better, nothing wrong with that. But from there on you must ask yourself the question, " What is my contribution to this world" ? For example, if you constantly are annoyed by increasing or season related gas prices, take the bus, ride a bike with other words make a difference. It's even better when you're united while trying to contribute. The more people, the stronger the effect will be of what you're trying to do. It can't hurt you to sit down and think about how you can contribute to make this world a better place. Worst case scenario, you thought about it for ten minutes and couldn't come up with nothing.....next time maybe you will.
Try to enjoy those little things in life we so often are taking for granted. We'll never stop complaining, that would be an utopia but let us be aware of what we're complaining about and if it's worth it. It just might be better to convert that negative energy into positive energy and the effect will most likely even be better.
"If you don't like something change it.
If you can't change it, change your attitude.
Don't complain."
